A Little Sweetness

It's Thursday night. Wow! Tomorrow it will be one week since my little family moved in the new apartment... Things are going great! Today I accomplished a lot!! I organized my sewing and crocheting things...and I sorted a mountain of socks!! It's incredible how socks hide everywhere.. we found socks in the couch, under the beds, the dresser, the fridge!! :) I collected all the socks I could find from the old house and today I did the job to find for each of them their "twin-brother"... it took me a while.
This past week, many things have happened.. with the mess surrounding us we even celebrated the birthday of my sweetie-pie husband!! :)) I wanted to make him a nice card, find something he needs.. in the end, among boxes to unpack and clothes to fold, the only thing I did was baking!!! and I know he loves it! We celebrated his birthday for 2 days in a row, on Sunday with the kids.. I prepared a gorgeous Black Forest Gateau. I had never done that recipe in my life.. not even tasted it... ever... but the picture on my "Tea Party Treats" lovely book was so inviting.. and it came out delicious!! It's basically a chocolate cake filled with cherry jam and whipped cream. Everything topped with a smooth and creamy chocolate ganache. mmm
The next day {the actual birthday},  while the children were in school, I made him some incredibly good Limoncello Meringue Pies.. tiny pies... just divine! I wish they were bigger!!!! The lemon cream had a hint of Limoncello {I used the one homemade by me}... I can't describe how good they were.. I just know I will make them again soon! :)

 My gorgeous book...
My yummi cake!..

I'm getting hungry looking at these pictures.. maybe it's time for a little night-snack.. ;)

Hugs to you all!!!

Russian Little Lady.

Happy Saturday everyone!!!
I hope you are having a wonderful week-end..
I always forgot to show you another little amigurumi doll that I made. It's a little Russian Doll!!
I made it as a present for my sister's birthday last month. She received it a few days ago and she liked it!! It was a hard work... it took me a whole day to make it.. I don't think you'll ever see it in my shop!! haha
But I like to see the picture, I love the details and the web-site where the pattern came from.

Beatrix or Francesca?

Beatrix Potter is one of my favorite illustrators. I love the cuteness of the little animals she draws and the character she gives them through her stories. I also loved the movie about her life, Miss Potter.. what a sad life!! Not a very happy ending.. and despite all her sufferings she was able to create such great Works of Art. I'll always be her biggest fan!!
♥And I'm not the only one... my little sister Francesca, who lives in Italy with her American husband and 3 gorgeous children is an incredible artist and big fan of Miss Beatrix. She is an iconographer, but she also loves watercolor. She has her little Etsy shop, where she sells Thank-You Cards, Tags, Bookmarks and Birthday Cards.. almost all inspired by Beatrix Potter's little creatures. Please go check them out!!! You'll find also some of her husband's drawings and watercolors, but I'll speak more about him in another post. :)

♥You can see here her last creation, "the busy Miss Mouse Birthday Card"... just adorable!!

35 years old.

This picture speaks by itself!! Today is my 35th Birthday and I spent a wonderful day at home with my family. ♥ My guests prepared a delicious lunch for me...and my husband a beautiful Crostata di Fragole (Strawberry Tart), exactly what I used to have for my birthday when I was little. My kids covered me with hugs and kisses and drew beautiful cards. I received emails and phone calls from Italy.. What else could I ask for? Nothing.. really. I can only thank God for everything He gives me and does for me everyday.

Happy B♥Day my Love!

Yes!! Today is my husband's birthday!..as well as my Mom's {but unfortunately she lives far far away from me}.. We celebrated with a HUGE lunch all cooked by me and served by our children! They had so much fun serving their Dad, pretending to be at a restaurant called "Mami's Kitchen". They were wearing their aprons and napkin folded on their arm.. They even wrote a Menu describing all the courses. Of course I directed this whole thing, I had a lot of fun too..especially cooking! I just love to cook. I'll share with you the dessert... Profiteroles! Et voila'!! The Puffs came out gorgeous!.. I followed a recipe from Martha Stewart's web-site.. then I filled them with pastry cream (= crema pasticcera) and covered them with a delicious chocolate sauce. YUM!!!
I know my husband had a great day and a big smile on his face. :)

Isabella ♥

I'm going to dedicate this post to the incredible woman that inspires me everyday in every little thing I make.. my grandma Isabella.. or Nonna, as I called her. Today it's her birthday, she would have turned 98! She went to Heaven 1 and a 1/2 years ago, but she's always very present everyday. Especially today.
I spent the whole day sewing {I'm finishing a purse}, just like she used to do. She always had some work in her hands, she wouldn't stop a second. She could sew, knit, crochet, draw, paint... a perfect lady who grew up in a time so close to the 1800, I don't know how she could adjust to the new crazy era.. but she did, and everybody loved her. She enjoyed watching movies with the rest of the family, but she would never watch any war movie... as she would say "War? No thank you! I don't want to live it again.." She lived both of the World Wars, and she was a Red Cross Nurse during WWII, the memories were not that good.. she never really shared too much about it, it must have been awful. But she survived, always with a smile on her face. I don't know if I'll ever meet another woman as strong as she was.
There should be so many other things to say about her, but I would have to write a whole book, so I'll stop here.. because, really, I just wanted to say "Happy Birthday Nonna!". ♥
