La La Land ~ movie review

"City of Stars...are you shining just for me?..."
I don't know about you but this is my favorite song from the big time Oscar winner musical "La La Land". Whenever I hear that song it takes me back to Valentine's Day when my husband took me on a date to watch it. I didn't know what to expect as I hadn't yet read any review, I didn't know anything about the plot, I just knew it was a musical.
I love musicals, I have acted in some when I was younger {yes, I love to act and sing}. Not many musicals have touched my heart as much as this one. I love the story, the slow and calm flow of the plot, as if it were an old movie from the 50's. It really seems that it was performed in that era, for the way the characters were dressed and also how "clean" and non-provocative the romance is portrayed. Instead there are some elements such as cellphones, remote controls and electrical keyboards that show the times of today. Was it the intention of the director to combine the two different eras? I don't know, but it's a detail that I really liked.
I don't want to give any spoilers, so I won't speak about the story, the only thing I want to say in particular is that the end left me with some bitterness...maybe because I'm very romantic and I was hoping for a different, maybe more cliche' ending, but it was not the case. Would I change the end? Probably not, because that's one of the elements that makes this movie so unique.
My absolute favorite thing about this musical is of course...the music!! I listen to the songs almost everyday. Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone have amazing voices and great talent, even at dancing! The tap-dancing scene is my favorite..I wish I could dance like that. Also the scenery, the amazing views and panoramas, the whole thing just makes you dream. It really depicts well a "la la land", so far from reality, where all of us like to escape when life becomes heavy. I think it's okay every now and then to dream, the important thing is to know how to wake-up.

October Baby ~Movie Review

I haven't written a movie review in a while.... maybe because it doesn't happen very often that I'm really touched by a movie{and I watch a lot of movies!! Thank you Netflix and RedBox!!}.
Last week I happened to see the title "October Baby" among the movie choices on Netflix and I remembered my Mom had seen it and had talked to me about it. So I decided to watch it.
I know, it's not a new movie and probably many of you have already seen it. It's the story of a young girl who finds out she was a survived aborted baby. You can imagine... a pretty dramatic story about how she tries to find her real mom, the feelings of abandonment and rejection which will eventually lead to forgiveness. At the end of the movie I couldn't help but crying!!!
I didn't know any of the actors.. and that's not the reason why I chose to watch it. I deeply believe that to abort is to kill, even if the fetus is only a few weeks old. God creates Life, and we are not the ones who decide to end the lives He gives us. Of course, many people don't know this, are misled by society, they make wrong choices... but the soul of all those babies in Heaven are praying for their Mommies, loving them and forgiving them from Up Above.
Love to you all!

Cozy Giveaway ♥

One of my favorite books is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. It's such a beautiful novel, full of suspense, romance, drama... I think you should read it too!!
Different movies were also made out of this story.. the one I'm watching right now {I'm super cozy in my bed on a rainy day...} is this one, the 1996 version:

The Hunger Games ~ Movie Review

I love watching movies, as long as they are not horror or too scary, or where there is the death of a child.. that is too much for me. I basically like romantic, drama, adventure and suspense. Sometimes my husband brings home a movie that I would never choose.. and it recently was: The Hunger Games.
Have you seen it? I remember that when I watched the preview I said "I'm not gonna watch that!", it seemed to me too full of anguish, and that's a feeling I don't like to go to sleep with. :}
So, once rented I forced myself to watch it and I have to say.. it wasn't that bad! Maybe a little too much blood and evil for my taste, but it was well acted and the special effects were pretty nice. The story is completely absurd, I read it comes from a famous Novel which I will never read. While watching it I remembered another movie, called "Battle Royale", what I thought it was the "japanese version" {it's instead a similar story taken from a similar book}.... horrible movie, much worse than the american one!
Well, my review doesn't seem to be too positive!!! sorry about that... I have to say that I liked the costumes very much and the arch & arrows of the protagonist.
Has anyone seen this movie? Did you like it? Let me hear your perspective!! :)

Oh... I almost forgot to share this! My version of the movie!! haha

September 11

There's no extra words to add.

I don't know if any of you watched Tom Hank's movie Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, about 9/11. I recently watched it and it was really moving... sad sad sad... especially because you know it really happened. If you are in the mood of watching a touching, incredibly heart-breaking movie, it is the movie for you!

In God We Trust.

What I Watched Last Night..

I don’t know about you but I love Fairy-Tales.. as soon as a new Princess’ Movie comes out I have to watch it!
Last night, all “cozy-wozy” with my kids, I watched MIRROR MIRROR. It was finally available at the Red-box! If you don’t remember what it is about, it’s basically the story of Snow-White.. just told in a different way. Julia Roberts is the evil Queen… and she’s just gorgeous as always! I’ve always been her fan, since the times of Pretty Woman. All the characters were incredible. I really loved the movie.. it was funny, cute, romantic, suspenseful all at the same time!
You think you know the story of Snow-White? well, you don’t know this one!

Apart from Julia Roberts, I didn’t know any of the actors, but I liked them all. The Prince is charming and funny, the dwarves are spectacular..and Snow-White.. they couldn’t have found a sweeter girl!! She’s incredibly beautiful and graceful, exactly as you would imagine the real princess.
Another thing I loved was the Castle. Then all the special effects.. and.. the costumes were just fabulous! Look for yourselves at these pics I found:

Well, if you haven’t seen it yet… go rent it now!!! ♥ Let me know what you think!
